Dear Leon D. Carr Memorial Foundation Supporters,

We would like to sincerely thank you for your continued support of our disc golf tournament and day that commemorates Leon David Carr.  The 3^rd Annual Redbone Classic had more than 25 teams last year and turned out to be an exceptionally good time.  Our 3^rd Annual Leon’s Day raised a gracious amount of money which was put forth towards positive local and regional causes. Money raised from the last few year’s benefits included donations to our yearly E.C.C. semester scholarships, the Grand Island Conservation Society, Upstate New York Transplant Services(UNYTS), Massachusetts Avenue Project(MAP), The Miracle League of Grand Island, and sponsorship for the construction  Ellicott Creek Disc Golf Course.

This event is always great for friends and family to share time together in honoring someone very special who will always be missed. The sacrifices of everyone that’s been involved in our fundraising efforts continues to have positive results for our local community and Western New York region. In February of 2010 we also added a winter event to commemorate featuring a soup competition. This event was held again with great success at the Grand Island Moose Lodge on February 12th of this year.

We want you to know that we are grateful for your help and respect the support that you have extended towards our organization. This support enables our organization’s ability to continue generating money annually for local and regional causes.  For example, last year’s event also incorporated a bike drive for Buffalo Blue Bike. This organization takes in and repairs bicycles for children individuals to use who otherwise would not be able to do so. They provide bicycle transportation to their community supporting physical exercise while helping to minimize the human impact on our environment.  We were able to donate more than 20 bikes to Buffalo Blue Bike located in north Buffalo following Leon’s Day last July 4th. This upcoming event in the summer of 2011 will be held Sunday July 3 once again at Beaver Island State Park. As we get closer to our event this summer we will look forward to your participation and if able to do so sponsorship of our annual disc golf tournament. We have a great appreciation for your continued support of our Annual Redbone Classic disc golf tournament and commemorative Leon's Day, and look forward to seeing you again this summer at our event.
